For the fourth time running, online shop www.otto.de was awarded the audience award Online Star in the category “Fashion & Lifestyle” in Munich yesterday. The OnlineStar, organised by publishing group Ebner Ulm, is seen as the “Web Oscar” of the online industry and is based purely on user votes. In the anniversary year 2009, particularly the strong “Happy Sixty!” campaign and features at www.otto.de drew a lot of attention. For the first time, the OTTO fashion blog “Two for Fashion” was also nominated and was voted among the top ten in the category “Weblogs”. More than 10,000 websites in 16 categories were assessed. More than 30,000 Internet users agreed: in the category “Fashion & Lifestyle”, they voted the shopping platform www.otto.de to number 1. “We are proud that we once again managed to win the OnlineStar. As an audience award, it shows that we always offer our customers the kind of shopping experience that they look for in OTTO and it reconfirms our leading position especially with regard to customer trust and popularity”, ecplains Dr Thomas Schnieders, Director New Media at OTTO. With its more than 650,000 stock-keeping units mostly from the fashion and lifestyle segment, OTTO offers its Internet users a particularly attractive shopping experience. The online shop is easy to use, has powerful search functions and certified security standards. The Hamburg-based company regularly updates its webshop and includes strong brands and attractive partners. As part of the current “Happy Sixty!” campaign on the occasion of OTTO’s 60th birthday, exciting promotions such as the live shopping offer “Happy Preis des Tages” (happy price of the day) and the “Happy Bingo” competition with its many prizes, which went on for several weeks, has received positive feedback. One year after its launch, the OTTO fashion blog “Two for Fashion” is also celebrating a success: the fashion blog was positioned among the top ten in the category “Weblogs”. The OnlineStar is a pure audience award. This year, it was presented for the eleventh time by publishing group Verlagsgruppe Ebner Ulm in Munich. For the first time, users voted using the OnlineStar toolbar, which made the voting particularly secure. In two rounds, Internet users chose their favourite in a total of 16 categories. The preselection round counted almost 23,000 votes and more than 10,000 websites were assessed overall. In the main voting round, users chose the winner from the ten favourites in the individual categories. On 29 October 2009, the winners were announced during a gala event at the GOP Theatre in Munich’s Maximilianstra?e. For more information about OTTO, please visit www.otto.com. |
